Pacific Modular and the Environment

What are we doing inside Pacific Modular?

Installation Services:

1. Use of environmentally safe adhesives

2. Reduce the amount of adhesives used, without jeopardizing quality of installation. This is accomplished through proper equipment and techniques.

3. Purchasing higher quality adhesives which have a longer lifecycle and use less per application.

4. Recycle cardboard and all other products which are used during installations, which can be recycled.

Millicare® Environmental Services:

1. Millicare Dry Carpet Cleaner is Biodegradable.

2. Process uses very little water. (one gallon per 10,000 sq. ft)

3. Product containers are reused by Installation services or other businesses in the community.

4. Spot cleaning towels are washed and reused until the end of their useful life.

Administration:

1. Recycling Program for all products.

2. Commitment to purchasing pre owned products. (i.e. furniture, office Equipment etc.)

3. Reuse of office materials. (i.e. file folders, binders, boxes)

4. Seek out products which have a longer lifecycle, and or use recycled products.

How we help our customers
lower their impact on the environment

Floor Covering Products:

1. Library of floor covering products which are Environmentally friendly, these products may 1) use recycled material 2) be reusable 3) or consume less natural resources to produce.

2. Milliken's Earth Square® program (see sidebar) renews old modular carpets for reuse at another location!

   It's Environmentally Smart! With only minimal use of our natural resources, Earth Square provides a way for our customers to create a functional, like-new floor covering while reducing the solid waste burden on our landfills.

3. Pacific Modular's Reuse Program: We take back used carpet tile, clean the carpet and install it in another location. (can be done with some broadloom)

4. Milliken Carpet Tile (see sidebar): It's Sustainable because it's Flexible

Installation Services:

1. Look to repair and prolong life of product as the first option.

2. Broadloom Carpet which is removed will be Recycled

3. Carpet tile will be reused if possible through Pacific Modular's reuse program or Milliken's Earth Square® program.

4. Adhesives:
   • Broadloom Carpet, installed with low VOC environmentally friendly adhesives.
   • Carpet Tile, installed with low VOC releasable adhesive which is reusable for two or more lifecycles of carpet tile.

5. Cove Base is not removed if possible. We will clean it up and if the base is acceptable to the customer we will install the new carpet under the existing base.

Millicare® Environmental Services
(8 years):

• Millicare is a dry process. Water can damage carpet and/or adhesives which may shorten the life of the carpet.
• Conserves water, Millicare uses approximately one gallon of water per 10,000 ft of carpet cleaned.
• Dry Carpet Cleaner is Bio-degradable.
• Does not leave harmful residues which may cause the early demise of carpet.
• Improves Indoor Air Quality. (Tested by Air Quality Sciences, Atlanta, GA)
• Does not stimulate Microbe growth. Millicare eliminates the food source and does not get the carpet wet, taking away two of the three necessary components which microbes need for growth. (i.e. food, moisture and warmth)
